This past year I have been lucky enough to be able to spend some time taking classes on-line through www.coursera.org. This platform has enabled me to take classes from Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia without leaving my couch. I have to admit that I have walked around both of these campuses in person and never thought that I’d be lucky enough to be a student. Best of all my classes were FREE! Right now I’m slogging through trying to learn some new technology (Adobe Creative Suite) but I’m also grateful to the advent of these new technologies, like Coursera, that allow me to learn. They have all been fascinating classes on songwriting, Beethoven Sonatas and the history of music no name a few. I encourage you to check out the site and some of the upcoming offerings. I’ve got more on my “to do” list.
